CBC National Bank’s New Website Features Make Banking More Accessible

August 01, 2017 by Mike Brooks

At CBC National Bank, we put our customers first. Since 1999, we’ve been providing our customers with an exceptional banking experience. We’re committed to offering all our clients the same or equivalent access to all our services. We’ve improved accessibility features to bring you the best online experience.

What is Web Accessibility?

Web accessibility helps people with disabilities understand and interact with our website. We know many of our customers have visual, auditory, speech, cognitive or other disabilities, and we don’t want that to get in the way when they’re managing their finances. We asked ourselves some of the following questions:

  • How will people with impaired vision access our website?
  • What about physical disabilities that make it hard to type?
  • How can we make navigation friendlier for someone who is dyslexic or hearing-impaired?

What Components Matter?

Our website integrates several of the following components to make it more accessible to people with disabilities:

  • Content – the text, images, and other information, as well as the code that defines them, were designed to make our website more accessible.
  • Web browsers, media players, and other user agents make it easier to zoom in on text or change background colors for easier navigation. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox all have features that make the Internet more user-friendly.
  • Our new mobile app makes banking available on personal devices that can be used with alternative keyboards, screen readers and other assistive devices.

Designed for Our Customers

Our new accessibility features were designed for digital inclusion and universal usability. We make your financial information accessible regardless of age, abilities, economic situation, or geographic location. Our website now features these elements and more:

  • Clear layout and design for people with learning disabilities or visual impairment
  • Keyboard compatibility for those who can’t use a mouse
  • Large buttons and links for those with physical disabilities or reduced dexterity
  • Clear, understandable content to help people with low language skills or cognitive issues
  • Bright, contrasting colors for those with color blindness or contrast sensitivity
  • Customizable text for people with dyslexia or other learning disability
  • Text-to-speech so people who are blind can access content
  • Notifications and feedback to assist people with vision problems or learning disabilities
